Increase in Crimes Against Women in Germany Revealed by BKA Statistics
The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) has released alarming statistics indicating a rise in crimes against women across various categories, including sexual offenses, domestic violence, and online abuse. Reports show a 6.2% increase in sexual crimes against women, with over 52,000 victims. Notably, politically motivated hate crimes surged by 56.3%. The report also highlights 360 femicides in 2023, alongside a proposed violence protection law by Interior Minister Nancy Faeser aimed at combating these issues. The situation is deemed ‘unbearable’ by the minister, who underlines the urgent need for action.
