Increase in Vehicle Arson and Arrests Reported for New Year’s Eve in France
The French Interior Ministry reported significant increases in vehicle arsons and arrests during New Year’s Eve celebrations. A total of 984 vehicles were set ablaze and 420 individuals were arrested, up from the previous year’s figures of 745 vehicles and 380 arrests. Notably, incidents involving fireworks and mortar usage caused serious injuries, including a two-year-old child. Minister Bruno Retailleau highlighted the challenges facing law enforcement and called for a united effort against crime and impunity.
