Increased Migrant Arrivals Alarm Officials on Gavdos Island

Gavdos Island has seen a surge in migrant arrivals, with the latest boat carrying 70 individuals, the third within 48 hours. Among those rescued, the majority are men, with some women and children from countries including Egypt, Pakistan, Sudan, Syria, Palestine, and Yemen. After receiving initial assistance, the migrants will be temporarily housed before their relocation to Crete. The Mayor of Gavdos expressed concern over the rising refugee inflow, citing dwindling supplies and challenging winter sea schedules as pressing issues.
