Indonesia Joins BRICS Group, Expanding Emerging Economies Coalition
Indonesia has officially joined the BRICS group of emerging economies, which now includes ten member countries. Brazil, the current chair of BRICS, announced Indonesia’s membership, emphasizing its significant population and economic standing in Southeast Asia. The Indonesian government views this membership as a strategic opportunity to enhance collaboration with other developing nations. BRICS was established in 2009 to counter the dominance of the G7, and it has recently expanded, admitting new countries including Egypt and Iran.
