Researchers in Japan have initiated clinical trials for a groundbreaking drug aimed at regenerating teeth, potentially providing a non-invasive alternative to dentures and implants. The drug targets a protein called USAG-1, which inhibits tooth growth. Initially, it will be tested on adults who have lost several teeth due to a genetic condition known as anodontia, affecting approximately 0.1% of the population. The team hopes to bring the drug to market by 2030.
