Inquest Reveals Baby’s Death Linked to Delayed Induction Due to Hospital Capacity Issues
An inquest has revealed that a lack of hospital capacity contributed to the tragic death of baby Ava-Lea, who passed away just 35 hours after birth. Chelsea Wootton was unable to be induced for 60 hours past her due date due to these issues. Despite her repeated concerns and requests for a cesarean section, Wootton was not given adequate care, leading to oxygen deprivation and the baby’s death. Birmingham’s City Hospital has accepted liability and expressed deep regret over the incident.
