Inquiry Reveals Lack of Evidence Led to Lucy Letby’s Non-Referral to Nursing Regulator
A public inquiry has uncovered that Lucy Letby, who was convicted of murdering seven infants, was not referred to a nursing regulator despite concerns raised by neonatal unit doctors. The inquiry, known as the Thirlwall Inquiry, revealed that hospital management cited a ‘lack of evidence’ for not suspecting Letby of harming babies, despite a noted increase in infant mortality. Letby is currently serving 15 life sentences after her convictions, and further inquiry findings are expected in 2025.
