Intense Fighting in Northern Syria Leaves Dozens Dead Amid Kurdish and Pro-Turkish Militia Clashes
Recent clashes in northern Syria between pro-Turkish militias and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have resulted in dozens of deaths. A ceasefire was reportedly in effect near Aleppo, but fighting erupted over control of a dam and a bridge on the Euphrates River. The pro-Turkish forces, backed by the Turkish Air Force, suffered significant losses. The U.S. continues to support the SDF in efforts to prevent a resurgence of ISIS, heightening tensions with Turkey, which views the SDF as linked to the PKK.
