Investigation into Moriarty Tribunal Findings Advances as Gardaí Forward File to Prosecutors

Gardaí have sent a file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions regarding the Moriarty Tribunal, which examined the financial dealings of former Taoiseach Charles Haughey and ex-Minister Michael Lowry. The tribunal’s 2011 report highlighted the connections between businessman Denis O’Brien and Lowry, raising questions about the granting of a mobile phone license in 1995. Both Lowry and O’Brien have persistently contested the findings, with legal disputes ongoing, including a recent settlement regarding legal costs from the tribunal.
