Ireland Urged to Phase Out Fossil Fuels to Combat Climate Change

The Climate Change Advisory Council has declared an urgent need for Ireland to phase out fossil fuel usage within 15 years to mitigate serious economic and environmental costs. By 2040, greenhouse gas emissions must decrease by 67% and be one third of 2018 levels. Significant transformations in heating, transportation, food production, and business operations are required, with strong political leadership and careful management of the transition emphasized as essential for success. The council warns of rising climate impacts already affecting communities across Ireland.
