Irish Coast Guard Responds to Over 2,500 Incidents in 2024
The Irish Coast Guard reported responding to 2,554 incidents in 2024, featuring significant air and sea rescue operations. Their activities included 1,154 mobilisations by Coast Guard units and 752 helicopter missions, which provided crucial medical assistance, especially to offshore island communities. The introduction of new AW189 helicopters and a forthcoming fixed-wing aircraft highlights efforts to enhance operational capacity. Joanna Cullen from the Department of Transport commended the tireless work of Coast Guard members in ensuring safety along the Irish coastline.
