On December 12, the Gaza Civil Defense reported at least 58 fatalities from a series of Israeli airstrikes, including 12 security personnel tasked with aid distribution. These attacks occurred shortly after a UN General Assembly call in New York for an immediate ceasefire was rejected by Israel and the United States. The Israeli Army claimed to target Hamas militants while continuing operations in northern Gaza, which resulted in additional civilian casualties in previous strikes.
