Issues with Greek Panic Button App Highlight Response Delays for Domestic Violence Victims
A recent incident in Mytilene has raised concerns regarding the Panic Button app designed to assist victims of domestic violence in Greece. A woman reported that the police took approximately 30 minutes to respond to her silent alert, which could be critical in life-threatening situations. Despite the app’s intent to notify local authorities discreetly, the signal was relayed to Athens first, leading to a delay in police response. The victim had previously reported her estranged husband for abusive behavior multiple times.
