Italian Police to Use Video Evidence Against Fascist Salute Participants
Italian authorities announced plans to utilize video footage to identify hundreds of individuals who performed the fascist salute during a gathering in Rome. Approximately 1,300 people attended the event commemorating two young neo-fascists killed by far-left activists in 1978. The gathering, which occurred near the former headquarters of the neo-fascist Movimento Sociale Italiano, featured participants responding to calls for fallen comrades with a fascist salute, an act that is illegal in Italy but commonly seen at neo-fascist rallies. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni leads the far-right Brothers of Italy party, a successor to the MSI.
