Italy Designates National Urban Peripheries Day to Promote Inclusivity and Safety
The Italian Senate has officially established a National Urban Peripheries Day, approved unanimously by 68 senators and set to take place each year on June 24. This initiative, spearheaded by Forza Italia, aims to enhance awareness regarding inclusivity, sustainability, and the quality of life in urban areas and their outskirts. The date honors the memory of Fortuna Loffredo, a young girl who tragically lost her life in 2014. The decision follows a growing concern over the rising number of designated commemorative days, with one senator pledging to no longer support such measures.
