Italy Implements New Labor Contract for Public Sector Employees
The Italian government has renewed the collective labor contract for nearly 194,000 public sector employees, resulting in an average monthly salary increase of €165.85. The agreement, signed by the Cisl union, allows remote work to exceed 50% of total working hours, with meal vouchers available for remote workers. Additionally, a pilot program for a four-day workweek will be introduced, maintaining a total of 36 hours per week. However, two major unions, Cgil and Uil, rejected the deal, citing unmet demands. The trial will initially be focused on areas with no direct public interaction.
