Japan’s Princess Yuriko of Mikasa Passes Away at 100
Princess Yuriko of Mikasa, the oldest member of the Japanese Imperial Family, has died at the age of 100 in Tokyo’s St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in 1923, she married Prince Mikasa in 1941, and they were together for 75 years until his death in 2016. Yuriko spent her final years in the Akasaka Palace, where she enjoyed reading and watching baseball. Her health declined in recent months, and reports indicate she may have died from pneumonia. With her passing, the Imperial Family now consists of 16 members, predominantly male heirs.
