Jasleen Kaur Wins Turner Prize for Celebrating Scottish Sikh Culture
Jasleen Kaur, a Glasgow-born artist, has won the Turner Prize for her exhibition ‘Alter Altar’, which creatively uses everyday objects to celebrate the Scottish Sikh community. The exhibition features a vintage Ford Escort and other elements showcasing cultural memory, as noted by the judges. Kaur received the £25,000 prize from actor James Norton at Tate Britain, expressing her pride in representing her community and highlighting the significance of visible cultural contributions.
