Jibril Cissé Sentenced to Suspended Jail Time and Fine for Tax Issues

Former French international footballer Jibril Cissé has been sentenced to eight months in suspended prison and fined €20,000 for failing to submit tax returns. The ruling, made by a court in Bastia, confirmed that his accounting firm delayed the financial submissions. Cissé, a Champions League winner with Liverpool in 2005, expressed relief at not being charged with tax evasion, insisting he has always acted honestly with tax authorities. His lawyer stated that the case was primarily about tax fraud, from which Cissé was acquitted.
