Joe Biden Calls for Increased Military Aid to Ukraine Amid Christmas Attacks
President Joe Biden requested the U.S. Department of Defense to intensify weapon deliveries to Ukraine, condemning Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure on Christmas Day. He characterized these assaults as attempts to disrupt electricity and heating access for the Ukrainian people in winter, threatening the nation’s security network. Since the onset of the Russian invasion in 2022, Washington has provided $175 billion in aid to Ukraine. Meanwhile, elected President Donald Trump has been critical of U.S. aid to Ukraine.
