Judy Garland’s Ruby Slippers Sell for Record $30 Million at Auction
A pair of ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in the 1939 film ‘The Wizard of Oz’ sold for $30 million at auction in the United States, setting a new record for the most expensive Hollywood item ever sold. Previously, the record was held by Marilyn Monroe’s iconic white dress. The slippers, crucial to the film’s plot, were recovered by the FBI in 2018 after being stolen in 2005. The auction also featured memorabilia from the film, including a witch’s hat worn by actress Margaret Hamilton, which sold for nearly $3 million.
