Key People Smuggler Convicted in £1.5 Million English Channel Operation
Pistiwan Jameel, a 54-year-old from Birmingham, has been convicted for orchestrating a £1.5 million people-smuggling operation across the English Channel. He referred to migrants in derogatory terms and leveraged contacts in France to facilitate illegal crossings, including that of Albanian national Fiorentino Halilaj. Captured on surveillance, Jameel admitted to two counts of facilitating illegal immigration at Birmingham Crown Court, along with Halilaj and his relative, Artan Halilaj, who was found guilty after denying the charges. Sentencing for the trio is scheduled for December 3.
