Labour Party Pledges to Secure Health Funding with Universal Service Charge

The Labour Party has committed to earmarking revenue from the Universal Service Charge (USC) for health services, aiming to revamp the public health system. Finance spokesperson Ged Nash emphasized the importance of maintaining the USC, labeling it a progressive tax predominantly shouldered by higher earners. He argued against proposed cuts by other parties, advocating for transparent allocation of funds to healthcare. Additionally, Labour plans to create a State construction company, utilizing funds from the Apple Tax case to stabilize housing provision and generate secure state jobs in the sector.
