A landslide occurred on Friday evening along the Seestrasse by Lake Vierwaldstättersee in Weggis, Lucerne, causing the closure of the main road between Brunnen and Küssnacht SZ. A loose rock block weighing 20 tons, identified by geologist Klaus Louis, will be blasted to ensure road safety. The slide released about 30 cubic meters of material but fortunately caused no injuries. Experts attribute the landslide to factors including recent frosts, heavy snowfall, and rapid snowmelt.
