Largest Christmas Tree Lights Up in IJsselstein Amid Festive Spirit
The iconic Christmas tree in IJsselstein, marked by 120 lights on the Lopik transmission tower, was successfully illuminated by Mayor Patrick van Domburg amidst concerns about the weather. The lights, now energy-efficient LEDs, will shine until January 6, with installation costs reaching €55,000 plus annual energy expenses. This yearly celebration, which began in 1992, has drawn attention worldwide, even if officially not recognized as the largest by Guinness World Records. The community effort sees support from 2,000 donors and numerous sponsors.
