Lebanon Faces $5.1 Billion Economic Loss Amid Hezbollah-Israel Conflict

According to a World Bank report, Lebanon has suffered economic losses exceeding $5.1 billion in the wake of the conflict between the Israeli military and Hezbollah, which escalated since October 2023. The report notes that nearly 100,000 homes were damaged, with 18% completely destroyed. The majority of the impacted households are located in southern Lebanon. The ongoing conflict is projected to reduce real GDP growth by at least 6.6% in 2024, contributing to a significant economic downturn that has persisted since 2019, costing Lebanon the equivalent of 15 years of economic development.
