Arriving in Réunion for a swimming meet, he confirmed his intention to experience a different training environment before eventually joining coach Bob Bowman in Austin, Texas. Marchand cited the need for a fresh perspective and intends to explore new disciplines while balancing training with travel and cultural experiences.
