Letsile Tebogo and Sifan Hassan Named Athletes of the Year at World Athletics Awards
Olympic champions Letsile Tebogo and Sifan Hassan were honored as the male and female athletes of the year at the World Athletics Awards held in Monaco. Tebogo, who became Botswana’s first Olympic champion with an African record in the 200m, also contributed to a new African record in the men’s 4x400m relay. Hassan made history by winning gold in the women’s marathon and earning medals in three events at the Paris Games. Additional awards were given to Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Mondo Duplantis, and Yaroslava Mahuchikh for their outstanding performances.
