Luzern Voters Decide on Streamlined Wind Farm Approval Process
In the Canton of Luzern, voters are set to decide whether the approval process for wind parks should be expedited. The proposed changes would shift the decision-making power from local assemblies to the government. While most political parties support the initiative, the Swiss People’s Party (SVP) is opposing the measure, claiming it undermines local control. Currently, Luzern has only three wind turbines operational since 2005, while the regional plan identifies 22 areas suitable for wind energy projects.
