Magnitude 4.9 Earthquake Hits Southeastern Crete

A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck a sea area 45 kilometers southeast of Zakros, Lasithi, shortly after 9 PM on Sunday, December 22, 2024. According to the Geodynamic Institute, the earthquake had a focal depth of 53.6 kilometers and was felt in the southern parts of eastern Crete.
