Magnus Carlsen to Compete in Chess Championship After Dress Code Adjustment
World chess champion Magnus Carlsen has announced he will rejoin the World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships following a resolution to a dispute over the event’s dress code. Initially, Carlsen withdrew from the tournament when informed that wearing jeans violated regulations. The International Chess Federation has since amended the dress code to allow for certain ‘elegant minor deviations,’ enabling Carlsen to compete in jeans moving forward. Carlsen had previously faced a $200 fine for his attire but is now set to continue his title defense wearing jeans.
