Major Transformation Ahead for Fret SNCF: New Companies to Emerge by 2025
Fret SNCF, France’s leading rail freight company, will be restructured into two new entities—Hexafret for goods transport and Technis for locomotive maintenance—on January 1, 2025. This change is part of a negotiated plan with the European Commission to prevent potential liquidation after an investigation into illegal state aid. As a result, approximately 500 jobs will be cut, representing 10% of the workforce, though all employees are expected to be transferred within the rail group. Despite the challenges, the SNCF aims to adapt and grow economically in this new landscape.
