Majority of Germans Support Coalition Dissolution and Urge Early Elections
A new ‘DeutschlandTrend’ poll reveals that 59% of Germans view the dissolution of the government coalition positively, with a significant 84% advocating for early elections rather than Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s proposed timeline for March. The Free Democrats (FDP) are primarily blamed for the dissolution, with 40% of respondents assigning them responsibility. Public discontent towards Scholz remains high, as 64% feel he is not performing well. Meanwhile, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU) continues to lead voter intentions at 32%, while dissatisfaction with the government has reached a satisfaction index of -1.
