Malaysia Returns Boats of Rohingya Refugees to Sea Amid Ongoing Crisis

Today, the Malaysian Coast Guard sent two boats carrying approximately 300 Rohingya refugees back into the sea. The refugees, who were exhausted and lacking food and water, were provided supplies but denied entry onto land. This incident follows the arrival of a previous boat with 196 Rohingya that was detained on the tourist island of Langkawi. The ongoing persecution and discrimination of the Rohingya minority in Myanmar continue to force many to flee, with Malaysia being a sought-after destination despite its attempts to limit refugee numbers.
