A man in his 50s has been charged with serious assault following an incident in Ballinasloe, Co Galway, which left a woman, also in her 50s, in critical condition. The man was arrested and is set to appear in court. The woman was rushed to Portiuncula University Hospital after sustaining serious injuries during the incident on Monday evening.
