Man Sentenced to Additional Three Years for Hijacking Incident at Cork Airport
Edmond Stapleton, 51, has been sentenced to an additional three years in prison for violating the terms of his release following a hijacking incident at Cork Airport in 2011. Stapleton previously received a 12-year sentence for attacking a police officer and hijacking a vehicle, but was released under supervision. His recent offenses, including assaulting gardaí during an arrest related to a separate investigation, led to the new sentencing, effectively extending his prison time to a total of six years.
