In a report analyzing train cancellations across Britain from January to November 2024, Manchester Victoria was identified as the busiest station with the highest cancellation rate at 9.5%. The north-west region experienced the most cancellations overall, with more than 611,000 stops cancelled. Local university students expressed frustrations over the impact of these cancellations on their education and safety, highlighting a disparity in rail investment between northern and southern England. Michael Solomon Williams from Campaign for Better Transport called for increased investment in northern rail services to address these inequalities.
