Maria Kolesnikowa Granted Prison Visit: Family Worried About Health
After almost two years of silence, Belarusian opposition leader Maria Kolesnikowa has been allowed a prison visit from her father. Concerns about her health have escalated, with reports indicating she weighs only 45 kilograms and is held under dire conditions. The meeting took place at a prison hospital in Gomel, as posted by former opposition blogger Roman Protassevich. Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg expressed relief but emphasized the need for the immediate release of all political prisoners. Kolesnikowa, arrested in 2020 following contested elections, has become a symbol of resistance against President Alexander Lukashenko.
