Mass Protests Erupt in Serbia Following Tragic Train Station Roof Collapse
After the tragic collapse of a train station roof in Novi Sad that claimed 14 lives, including two children, thousands of Serbians protested against perceived government negligence and corruption. Demonstrators accused the authorities of failing to prioritize safety during a major renovation project, which allegedly omitted crucial updates to the roof. The general contractor, a Chinese firm, stated that the roof was not included in their work. Protesters demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, while the Bauminister, Goran Vesic, resigned but denied any legal responsibility.
