Massacre in Haiti’s Cite Soleil Leaves Over 110 Dead Amid Witchcraft Accusations
A recent massacre in the Cite Soleil slum of Haiti resulted in at least 110 deaths, according to the Haitian National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (RNDDH). The violence was allegedly initiated by gang leader Monel ‘Mikano’ Felix, who accused elderly residents of using witchcraft to harm his sick child. Armed gang members executed over 60 people on Friday and 50 more on Saturday, targeting primarily individuals over the age of 60. Cite Soleil, known for its extreme poverty and violence, is heavily controlled by gangs, limiting communication for residents.
