On January 1, 2025, Mayor Taxiarchis Verras of Western Lesbos wished for health, peace, and luck during the municipality’s New Year’s cake cutting ceremony at the Municipal Theater of Kalloni. Attendees included Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Mythymna, MP Charalampos Athanasiou, and other local officials. The mayor along with Athanasiou and cultural deputy Zacharo Ioakeim also exchanged New Year greetings with workers from various local emergency services. The mayor lastly thanked volunteers for their contributions to this year’s Christmas events.
