Modernization of Electricity Network in Remote Areas of Sfakia, Greece
The Greek electricity distribution company, DEDDIE, has initiated a significant project to replace the aging power transmission network in the remote regions of Sfakia, including Agia Roumeli and Loutró. Utilizing helicopters for material transportation, the project aims to replace 65 electricity poles, with 25 already installed. DEDDIE’s Chania Deputy Director, Giannis Papagiannakis, outlined the scope of the 6-kilometer project, originally built over 35 years ago, emphasizing that the renovation will enhance safety and infrastructure. The aim is to complete most of the work by summer 2024.
