Montenegro Implements Stricter Gun Laws Following Tragic Shooting Incident

Montenegro’s Prime Minister Milojko Spajic has announced new gun laws aimed at preventing firearms from falling into the wrong hands after a shooting incident during the New Year, which resulted in twelve deaths and four injuries. The new regulations require gun license holders to undergo psychological evaluations by January 1, 2026, or risk losing their licenses. Additionally, illegal gun owners have a two-month period to surrender their weapons without prosecution. Protests occurred outside the National Security Council meeting, with citizens criticizing the government’s ineffective policies on gun ownership.
