Morocco’s Fishing Sector Achieves $3.1 Billion in Export Revenue in 2023
Morocco’s Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has reported that the marine fishing sector generated approximately 31 billion dirhams (around $3.1 billion) in export revenue in 2023, with a volume of 847,000 tons. Deputy Minister Zakia Driouch highlighted the sector’s contribution to the country’s export economy, noting it represents 7% of total exports and 39% of food product exports. The country has 518 processing units engaged in various activities related to seafood products, playing a crucial role in food security and job creation.
