Tendai Chisambara, 36, faced the daunting challenge of chronic kidney disease while hoping to become a mother. After years of being told pregnancy would be nearly impossible during dialysis, she unexpectedly discovered she was pregnant and gave birth to her son, Zane, in January 2023. Despite the complexities of her condition, she received support from multiple healthcare specialists. Although a kidney donor became available shortly after Zane’s birth, Tendai chose to prioritize her son’s care over the transplant, emphasizing the joy of motherhood in her journey.
