A mother has been found guilty of drugging her 15-year-old daughter with unprescribed ibuprofen, causing a life-threatening infection and significant emotional and psychological harm. The girl required extensive medical treatment, including ten blood transfusions. This case emerged during a Family Court hearing concerning multiple children at Sheffield Children’s Hospital who presented with unexplained illnesses. Other mothers were found not guilty of similar charges. The incidents highlight the dangers of fabricated or induced illness, recognized as a form of child abuse.
