Mourners began paying respects to Jimmy Carter, America’s longest-lived president, following his death at age 100. The six-day farewell will include a motorcade to significant locations, a state funeral service attended by all living former presidents, and a national day of mourning declared by President Joe Biden. Carter, who served as president from 1977 to 1981, will be honored with a lying in state at the U.S. Capitol and a private burial in Plains, Georgia, next to his wife, Rosalynn.
