National Slow Down Day Enforcement Aims to Curb Speeding Ahead of Festive Season

On National Slow Down Day, Chief Superintendent Jane Humphries urges motorists to stay focused and reduce speed as part of a 24-hour enforcement operation in partnership with the Road Safety Authority. With speeding contributing to almost one-third of fatal collisions, over 150,000 fixed charge notices have already been issued this year. The operation will step up monitoring of 80 and 100 km/h speed limits, especially with expected increases in vulnerable road users during the busy Christmas period.
