Nationwide Protests in Greece Demand Solutions for Swiss Franc Housing Loans
Protests are organized in Greece by the Initiative Committee of Swiss Franc Borrowers, demanding immediate solutions for housing loans denominated in Swiss francs that have become unbearable for more than 70,000 families. Demonstrations began on December 7 in Thessaloniki and will continue in Athens and Heraklion, with borrowers calling for government intervention and justice as their debts have increased excessively without legislative protection. They urge the Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis, to engage in dialogue to resolve the crisis affecting many households.
