Negotiations for Agricultural Agreement Fail in the Netherlands

In the Netherlands, negotiations for an agricultural agreement collapsed last June when the Farmers’ Organization (LTO) left talks, dissatisfied with the demands and lacking concrete commitments. The previous government proposed a budget of 13 billion euros to reduce livestock numbers by 25-30% by 2040. Current Minister of Agriculture Wiersma plans to address nitrogen issues through agricultural innovations and a voluntary buyout scheme.
